Surveillance
Many people choose surveillance as a quick way to get the information they need. Law Offices, Insurance Companies, Businesses and spouses all utilize this investigative resource. Although, their individual reasons for doing such differ, the technique is primairly the same. Initially we need to decide if surveillance is an option. If so we need to decide how many operatives it will take to get the job completed accurately and efficiently. Once this is decided and
a budget is agreed upon our surveillance teams will use their skills and perform the assignment. There is no guarantee in investigative work and surveillance does not always produce the evidence one wants, but it is definitely a proven approach for many matters. Our office has priced surveillance accordingly (regardless, there is a four hour minimum charge):

  1. Workers Compensation: Also known as a subrosa. This investigation is requested by insurance companies who need to determine the extent to ones injury and what level of activity they employ. Primarily the operative is fully trained with the use of video recording equipment as well as covert tailing techniques.
  2. Domestic : Also known as infidelity investigations: This investigation is done when a spouse is unsure of their partners honesty. The client usually advised our office of the expected place, time and location of a meeting. We go there watching and videotaping the subject's activities. We then report the information we learned to the client and proceed on from there. Sometimes we do further investigation like more surveillance, search for assets and verify background information.
  3. Corporate: This type of investigation usually revolves around employee's, sub-contractors and vendors involved in suspected illegal activity. Often we can send an individual inside undercover or use covert video surveillance to ascertain the information needed to alert the police to the illegal behavior and prosecute them. Successful investigations have unearthed illegal theft rings, drug dealing and usage, various incidents of inventory shortage and
shrinkage and theft of trade secrets. Although, very successful, this type of investigation could take months and could be costly. Sometimes it is our only option.
The regular cost for surveillance starts at $75.00 per hour and there is a four-hour minimum charge for each assignment. Additionally, there is a $.40 per mile charge for each mile and we charge straight cost for each expense authorized. The only difference would be in the corporate field where, because of the large amount of ongoing hours,
we charge a reduced rate which is negotiated during the initial consultation.

Domestic
Domestic or divorce investigations, Child Custody Investigations or missing persons matters are conducted by experienced private investigators with the upmost respect for your privacy. This is the case whether you need one of our Georgia Private Investigators or one of our Alabama Private Investigators. The gathering of evidence to prove your case is professionally handled whether it is to prove infidelity for a divorce case, to obtain custody of a child or to determine if a relationship is right for you.
Our private investigations are conducted to use the best in equipment with the best investigative method. Your case may require surveillance, courthouse research or direct inquiry to bring it to a successful conclusion.

Background Investigations
Domestic background investigations usually center around preemptive intentions. Prenuptial agreements, the marriage of a child to someone questionable, and personal engagements with others are all good reasons to conduct background checks.
When you call in and request a background investigation, your investigator will ask you several questions; trying to determine the area within which to concentrate the search. Areas that can be examined include criminal, civil, drunkenness, business, taxes, and more personal details.
Our investigator will work with you to concentrate on one specific area, or all areas, depending on the needs of the case. It is more cost effective to concentrate on specific areas, as opposed to a complete check. You may find information that is irrelevant.

Employee Theft
Employee theft can make an otherwise profitable business unprofitable. The employee theft investigation can lessen or eliminate altogether the amount of theft a company may be experiencing. A typical investigation starts with the investigator throughly examining the existing condition of a business. First, we listen to the problems that you are experiencing. Often the greatest quantity of information comes from the home office. Second, we inspect the place of business, on-site.
A thorough examination of the physical security of the workplace reveals the possible paths that merchandise and money can take to exit the premises. Once this initial examination is over, we propose a course of action to counter the problem. Often is the case when we must insert someone inside the place of business (as a customer or even as an employee) to identify the parties involved. Every effort is made to record illegal activity on videotape. In the event that quarters are too close for even our most secretive equipment, our investigators are trained to give the report in a narrative form that is completely admissible as evidence.

Asset Checks
Before you assign an asset check, we recommend that you obtain as much information about the person's home and place of business as you can. This saves a lot of time, which in the end, translate into money. If you don't have this information, we can still do the check, but it will take more time. We find that we do most of our asset checks in conjunction with lawsuits and liens.
First, we determine where the subject of the asset check has resided in recent years. Then, we determine whether or not the subject rented, or owned his/her places of residence. This information is usually a great indicator to determine the likelihood of assets.
After seeking these indicators, we check the tax assessor's office, UCC records, business licenses and the civil courts to see to whom else the subject is in debt.
What isn't Insurance or Domestic, we call Special. This category covers a wide range of investigations, ranging from the simple asset check, to complex employee theft. Fortunately for our clients, we have a great deal of experience with all these types. This page discusses the following types of special investigations:

Asset Checks

Background Investigations
Background checks are similar to asset checks in that the more information we start with, the more information we'll produce. This is because we'll have more time to spend looking into places that most would never look.
Background checks are very useful for pre-employment purposes. Most of the business background checks that we do are for this purpose. Other reasons that we do background checks are for lawsuits, and business dealings. Forewarned is forearmed.
Our clients tell us what areas they are interested in looking into and we uncover the relevant information that can be obtained. Geography plays an important role in background checks. The more we are able to narrow down the area of the check, the less it will cost.
Criminal/Civil Investigations
Criminal and civil investigations are the least standardized. Every investigation poses different circumstances and problems. All of BAI's criminal/civil investigators have law enforcement backgrounds. This provides the client with an investigator that can help determine the course that the case needs to take.
On these types of cases, the client and the investigator must work closely with one another to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Fees for the cases are the same as for all other investigations.
Subpoena Service
Subpoenas breaks down into two basic types: Friendly, and Unfriendly. Usually, we find ourselves serving subpoenas in conjunction with your attorney, but we serve quite a few without also.
